Are You Ready Boots?...

....Start Walking!
Autumn has taken over here in London and I am embracing it full swing! If there’s one item I always go back to every time the leaves turn brown it’s a nice pair of Chelsea boots. Chelsea boots are timeless and never go out of fashion; I love to wear them with black tights and old summer dresses a ’la Alexa Chung.

I've bought Chelsea boots over the years from a few different highstreet brands and although they have been nice they always tend to wear out very quickly.  I think if you know you are going to wear an item year on year you should think about investing a bit more money to make sure that piece will last you more than one season! Queue this beautimous pair of boots that arrived on my doorstep last month from Chatham for review…

Coat - Primark
Dress - Milanoo

One of my favourite colours for Autumn/Winter is maroon so when I saw these Chelsea boots had maroon elastic I knew we’d get on like a house on fire. They are 100% leather so I think they will last me for a few good years and they are super comfortable...

On this particular day Will & I went for a wander around Portobello Road Market and they put up well with the day of walking through crowds and standing at bus stops... 5 stars from the City Girl! At Portobello I also picked up this black hat (strongly inspired by What Olivia Did & Wish Wish Wish). I am pretty chuffed with it as it was only £18 and the one I had been eyeing up on ASOS was £30! Pleased as punch!!

when the boat comes in..

On a recent trip to visit my parents in their newly bought narrowboat home I took the opportunity to wear a special dress for the occasion. The crochet-esque lace on this dress reminds me of 1960s table cloths or doilies - in a good way! On browsing the Milanoo website I came across this dress and thought it would work well with bare legs in summer & tights in the winter.

I am recently on a 1960s style obsession and can't resist making everything look that little bit more vintage! Therefore I couldn't resist pairing the dress with my new shiny black loafers and a black hair bow to match! I will never stop dressing like an oversized toddler it would seem!

We spent our afternoon turning the boat and going through locks (well I wasn't much help really but I did make a good 'I'm on a boat!' girl! ). As the evening wore in William fired up the barbeque and we munched our way through delicious food aplenty! Luckily this dress also has extra belly room!! I am already looking forward to visiting my parents again as there doesn't seem to be much more relaxing than sitting on the front of a peaceful boat watching ducks & swans float along the canal.

I hope you are having a mighty lovely September and are making the most of these last few bits of warmth we are getting!
Lots of love

Marché Aux Légumes

Hey Guys,

One last Summer post before the sunshine leaves London? I think so.. especially seeing as the sun has decided to show it's face this week!!

These pictures were taken on my recent trip to France. Will and I were told by a friendly campsite owner to go past the town of Chartres and check out the vegetable market and cathedral. If there's one thing we love it's a good market and we were certainly not disappointed! After picking up some delicious fruit and veg to cook with and a big ol' box of olives (Will doesn't even like olives..I ate them ALL! Mwhaha), we wandered around the town and when I saw the beautiful gardens around the cathedral I insisted on posing outside (with a baguette and a plastic bag full of market loot!) for these pictures haha, who could resist?

Before my trip I was on the hunt to find... 'the perfect pair of shorts' (DUH DUH DUUUH) - this meant - not too short that they reveal my bottom and not too long either! On a fleeting trip to a very busy & stressful Oxford Circus I happened upon the quiet and calming oasis that is Next.. I never normally pop into Next as I assume it isn't my style but I happened to pick out quite a few pieces I liked and in the end left with these blue pattern shorts.. not too long, not too short.. just right!

The shirt was also found on the same dreaded Oxford Circus trip, this time in my new favourite shop Mango (check out their new AW collection - it's diviiiine). I often find shirts come in a rough polyester-y fabric that always tends to be too see through, however this one was..just right!

I topped off the outfit with my trusty Birkenstock dupes from Primark which saw me through thick & thin (torrential rain & boiling sun) on my holiday, not bad for 5 pounds!!

That's all for now folks, look out for a 'AW Highstreet picks' coming this weekend!

What was your favourite part of your Summer? Leave a comment telling me, lets get talking!!

Monthly Favs!!

Hey guys,

How is it the end of July already??! This year is just speeeding past, it's insane! I am about to have a really exciting month this August with holidays and weddings to attend - I am really looking forward to it! Back to July though, for my favourite things of the month.... I have a month of LOVVVVVE for a fair few products so bare with me if I sound rather keen!!

The first product is this gorgeous primer from L'oreal, I tend to stick to the same old products when it comes to my skin but I decided to branch out and try some new things recently and I was pleasantly surprised! This is a base primer but it can also be mixed in with your foundation. Most of the time primers are used to help keep your makeup in place throughout the day so I find them particularly useful in the summertime when you tend to sweat more..!  Different primers do different things, if you have dry skin you can find moisturising primers that keep your skin dewy and if you have oily skin there are matte primers which will have combat shine throughout the day!

I have 'normal' skin so I find I just need something that will give me an extra boost or glow to my face, which is where this product comes in.. the primer has a slight pearlescent sheen to it that (when mixed in with your normal foundation) gives you a lovely Summer-y glow and leaves you looking healthy and radiant without being too shiny.

My next BIG CHANGE of the month is this foundation! This is a really big deal to me as I am really a stickler for getting stuck using the same foundation again and again, & although my normal (L'oreal true match) foundation is still amazing I decided I would like something a little lighter for Summer. This foundation from l'oreal is the lightest formula they make, so not for those who have a lot of colour pigmentation or imperfections they would like to cover! However, after using some new skincare products this month (coming up in this blogpost!) I have found my skin is a lot healthier and I have a lot less acne therefore this lighter finish foundation is perfect.. also you don't even feel like you're wearing foundation, which is a big deal when you are MELTING in the London sunshine (No complaints about the sunshine here though!!!).

And, of course I have a new lip product to rave about too, this is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lip stain in 'Pink Pong' this colour is just THE BOMB.. haha.. but really, I can't say much about this (I hear you all cheer) except it's matte without feeling dry and the colour is the perfect bold warm pink.. GO AND GET IT NOW.

Now, this is the skincare change I mentioned earlier... I found out about LA ROCHE POSAY Effaclar Duo through the many youtube beauty channels I incessantly watch and realised I HAD TO TRY IT. This cream combats redness, dark marks and acne and it does it sooooooooo well!! The tube tells you to apply if all over your face morning and night, I say DON'T do that.. just apply it to troubled areas at night before you go to bed and wake to the lovely surprise of perfect skin.. If you are going somewhere special you can apply if all over your face for a soft supple feeling in the morning but if you apply it this way everyday you are sure to dry out your skin! Other then that I really couldn't recommend this product enough.. GO AND GET IT NOW..

Last of all is my fashion fav of the month, which is this sundress from Brandy Melville (Kings Road & Carnaby Street if you are in London). It's the perfect light Summer dress, the pattern is boho-esque and the floaty style and adjustable straps make it ideal for beach holidays!

Weeeeeell, that's all for now folks! PHEW, who'd have thought I would have SO much to say!! I apologise in advance for the DAMAGE you may cause to your bank accounts in Boots &/or Superdrug after reading this post!! HAHA..

I hope you are having a magical and amazing Summer so far...

#OOTDS

Hey guys,
today's post is a catch up on my #ootds lately! If you want to see more of what I'm styling on a daily basis check out my instagram profile: instagram.com/dusk_williams

| DRESS - TOPSHOP | SANDALS - PRIMARK | NECKLACES - FOREVER 21 |

The first outfit was for a particularly sweltering day here in London recently, I picked up this topshop dress at a 'clothes swap party' I held recently and I have actually used it so much! Perfect for this heat! I like to layer dainty necklaces like this to make a plain outfit a bit more interesting.

|TOP - TSESAY | TROUSERS - PRIMARK | SANDALS - OFFICE | NECKLACE - MOROCCO|

Next up is a way of styling my uniform piece from work. I had these old printed primark trousers which come in soo handy when styling an outfit in the Summer, I noticed the green on my work tshirt matched in with the khaki in the print and so this tropical themed outfit was born!

 |TOP - PRIMARK| TROUSERS - RIVER ISLAND|NECKLACE - PRIMARK|
This is a simple, classic outfit for me.. If I can't decide what to wear that day I'll normally end up in a stripey top and a statement necklace.. this top is the one I recently picked up & featured in my Primark haul last month!

|DRESS - TSESAY| BELT - VINTAGE| SANDALS - PRIMARK|
Here's another uniform piece, this light blue silk dress is sooo lovely & it's great to be able to wear it with bare legs & white accessories, finally!

|DRESS - TSESAY| BOOTS - PRIMARK|
Again, this denim dress from work is a really nice piece, I am glad to be able to style it in a Summer-y way! I like to wear dresses with bare legs and black boots & socks in the Summer, it makes a nice change from sandals and gives an outfit more of a masculine feel!

|TOP - ZARA | CARDIGAN - TSESAY | JEANS-PRIMARK | SANDALS-PRIMARK|
Another stripey tee combo here ;) haha, I am so chuffed to have picked up these double strap sandals in primark for a mere 5 pounds! I have been lusting after a pair of birkenstocks for a while so I was delighted to see these hanging up waiting for me!!

Well, that's all for now folks, hope you liked my outfits! How's your Summer going?

The & Other Stories Summer Sale Wishlist

Hey guys,

Just a post to show allll the beautiful pretty lovely things I would WISH for from the & Other Stories summer sale! Come & see the beautiful pretty things......

Look at this lovely blush coloured leather bag though... oh, how lovely!

This ring would be such a nice statement piece with a little black dress (see later in post)

Again, peach coloured soft leather and gold hardware.. the pastel lover in me LUSTS for it.

I love this! Do you like this? I think it might be a bit 'marmite'... I just really like this bright violet colour and the midi length!

A skirt to match the purse? I mean, come on! Cute.

Said 'little black dress' arrives on the scene in its subtlety quirky and elegant glory ;)

Ok so maybe I wouldn't actually wear these, but, a girl can dream of being glamourous enough to pull off tailored hot orange cigarette pants and a soft white oversized shirt...can't she?

Well then...have you heard of  & Other Stories? The sister of h&m, Cos, Cheap Monday & Monki she is glamorous, trendy but also simple and classic.....Or as they put it: "Today, a woman with a love for fashion creates her own style.
She wears things that feel right to her and reflect her personality. & Other Stories is about bringing everything she can wear into one place, focusing on the whole look. We believe shoes, bags, jewellery, lingerie and beauty are key for styling and just as important as clothing.
Our collections are built around inspiring fashion stories. All our lines are diverse, ranging from masculine tailoring to feminine chic and designed to provide endless styling choices."

..... I also lust after the delicious smelling bath bubbles and body mists.. what a dream!

Hope you like this post, have a nice weekend ladies & gents :)

Pick Of The Co-Ords

Matching separates...
It's like marmite I think.. love or hate? For a long while I thought, wow.. I would look ridiculous in an all matching outfit,  you have to be very brave to get away with that! However, as part of an unspoken fashion resolution to try more daring things when it comes to trend choices, I would like to step into the pool of matching pieces which are popping up in highstreet shops. Other bloggers' got the hang of this look a long while ago, it's time I did the same!

So, with that in mind today's post is a choice of different matching separates from various online stores that I like! Let's give it a go shall we?.......
 Topshop
gingham is very in this season dontcha know? I really like this cropped top & trouser set from Topshop. I think it would be an easy way to pull off all over pattern.. I particularly like the idea of wearing it with red lips and killer heels for a night out look!

I just love this dark floral set from ASOS, it totally suits this transitional seasonal weather - (florals for Spring? Groundbreaking) - no but seriously - add tights and cardi when its cold & wear with nothing but brown leather sandals in the sunshine!
I found this look on pinterest and it set off my pastel thing massively! I think this looks like something a modern day Marie Antoinette would wear to chomp down cakes on a Sunday afternoon! Soooo cute.

 Asos
I think this is an easier way to pull of a Co-ord without being too obvious, dark denim looks good with black tights & leather as well as gorgeous summer golden skin. Can't go wrong!

The White Pepper
Again another floral set, this time from The White Pepper. I like the idea of wearing the skirt separately in a '1950's' style with white socks and pumps but also the set together is quite swishy and charming :)

That's all for now folks.. hope you liked this post! Are you into the Co-ords trend?
