Are You Ready Boots?...

....Start Walking!
Autumn has taken over here in London and I am embracing it full swing! If there’s one item I always go back to every time the leaves turn brown it’s a nice pair of Chelsea boots. Chelsea boots are timeless and never go out of fashion; I love to wear them with black tights and old summer dresses a ’la Alexa Chung.

I've bought Chelsea boots over the years from a few different highstreet brands and although they have been nice they always tend to wear out very quickly.  I think if you know you are going to wear an item year on year you should think about investing a bit more money to make sure that piece will last you more than one season! Queue this beautimous pair of boots that arrived on my doorstep last month from Chatham for review…

Coat - Primark
Dress - Milanoo

One of my favourite colours for Autumn/Winter is maroon so when I saw these Chelsea boots had maroon elastic I knew we’d get on like a house on fire. They are 100% leather so I think they will last me for a few good years and they are super comfortable...

On this particular day Will & I went for a wander around Portobello Road Market and they put up well with the day of walking through crowds and standing at bus stops... 5 stars from the City Girl! At Portobello I also picked up this black hat (strongly inspired by What Olivia Did & Wish Wish Wish). I am pretty chuffed with it as it was only £18 and the one I had been eyeing up on ASOS was £30! Pleased as punch!!

Truly Transitional - The Maxi Dress

(all clothing in this post can be found on the topshop website!)

The classic black maxi dress is a staple in most women’s wardrobes, with sandals and a sunkissed glow it gets us through many-a summer holiday! However, continuing with the theme of transitional dressing I wanted to show how I will be styling my plain black maxi to work for autumn and winter.

For autumn I went for a casual look, pair your maxi with a statement sweater to give it a sporty looking edge.  Slip on trainers are everywhere this season  and I love this faux furry pair from Topshop! To add a pop of colour to the outfit I decided to add a bright pink lip - if this is too daring for you try a nude gloss.

When winter draws in its time to pile on the thick wooly jumpers, black tights and hand cream! There’s no reason why you can’t wear your maxi as a skirt in winter, it makes a nice change from the same old black jeans. Just pull on a thick jumper, and layer with tights for extra warmth I love this bag & boots combo - both Topshop, they match brilliantly and can be worn with almost any colour.

Well, that's all for now folks! So don't pack away that summer maxi just yet!

Is it Already Goodbye?

Ok.. so bear with me here but..I'm kind of ready to say goodbye summer, hello autumn!... I'm kind of ready to pack my sandals away and dust of the ol' winter coat! There's a slight chill entering the air in London lately and I am actually pleasantly excited by it.. Sure I love summer and all the sea salt flavoured air, floaty sundresses and sandy socks that come with it.. but, as I feel a cooler breeze it makes me look forward to slipping on cosy jumpers and wooly socks!

With this in mind I thought I would do a post to show my Autumn wardrobe inspiration. I did one of these for Spring/Summer '14 and it went down a treat, so, without further ado...

It would appear that I like tartan, chunky knitwear, mini skirts, peter pan collars and pumps for Autumn 2014...  what a dream! I am already welcome crispy autumn leave, bonfire smells and conkers...

#OOTDS

Hey guys,
today's post is a catch up on my #ootds lately! If you want to see more of what I'm styling on a daily basis check out my instagram profile: instagram.com/dusk_williams

| DRESS - TOPSHOP | SANDALS - PRIMARK | NECKLACES - FOREVER 21 |

The first outfit was for a particularly sweltering day here in London recently, I picked up this topshop dress at a 'clothes swap party' I held recently and I have actually used it so much! Perfect for this heat! I like to layer dainty necklaces like this to make a plain outfit a bit more interesting.

|TOP - TSESAY | TROUSERS - PRIMARK | SANDALS - OFFICE | NECKLACE - MOROCCO|

Next up is a way of styling my uniform piece from work. I had these old printed primark trousers which come in soo handy when styling an outfit in the Summer, I noticed the green on my work tshirt matched in with the khaki in the print and so this tropical themed outfit was born!

 |TOP - PRIMARK| TROUSERS - RIVER ISLAND|NECKLACE - PRIMARK|
This is a simple, classic outfit for me.. If I can't decide what to wear that day I'll normally end up in a stripey top and a statement necklace.. this top is the one I recently picked up & featured in my Primark haul last month!

|DRESS - TSESAY| BELT - VINTAGE| SANDALS - PRIMARK|
Here's another uniform piece, this light blue silk dress is sooo lovely & it's great to be able to wear it with bare legs & white accessories, finally!

|DRESS - TSESAY| BOOTS - PRIMARK|
Again, this denim dress from work is a really nice piece, I am glad to be able to style it in a Summer-y way! I like to wear dresses with bare legs and black boots & socks in the Summer, it makes a nice change from sandals and gives an outfit more of a masculine feel!

|TOP - ZARA | CARDIGAN - TSESAY | JEANS-PRIMARK | SANDALS-PRIMARK|
Another stripey tee combo here ;) haha, I am so chuffed to have picked up these double strap sandals in primark for a mere 5 pounds! I have been lusting after a pair of birkenstocks for a while so I was delighted to see these hanging up waiting for me!!

Well, that's all for now folks, hope you liked my outfits! How's your Summer going?

STRIKE - With Somewhereto_

Hey guys,
I was lucky enough to attend the STRIKE event with Somewhereto_  showcasing new London based designers last week. The event was in an amazing venue, The Asylum (www.asylumlondon.org) . The deteriorating 19th Century Caroline Gardens Chapel in Peckham was a hauntingly beautiful setting for artists to display their work.
The evening consisted of 6 new designers debuting their work to press & public in a creative way. Each collection was played out on a catwalk in the round followed by a spoken poem.

MA-KO

MA-KO

I have a connection to new brand MA-KO (MA-KO twitter) as I did the makeup & hair for their S/S14 collection launch - see website here: www.ma-ko.co.uk  . At Strike MA-KO showed their A/W14 collection. The collection embodied the 'effortlessly chic' look the company encompases. Stand out pieces for me were a leather collar black wool dress which called out to my inner Wednesday Addams and a gorgeously relaxed Mac-come-Jacket (pictured in the last picture of the previous set) which reminded me of Alexa Chung's style.. I haven't stopped thinking about how throwing it over my mom jeans and a crisp white shirt would make me look like I was 'accidentally stylish' (a look one strives for!). Once again MA-KO hit the 'calmly cool and elegant' nail on the head. Check out their Spring/Summer 2014 collection now!

Another mention must be made for my fellow LCF classmate graduate Shireeka Devlin (Follow her twitter here), winner of a WGSN Global Fashion Award 2012, her collection of insanely colourful printed pieces never cease to amaze. I think the main thing I notice about Devlin's collection is that despite the fact that they are an explosion of print, colour & confidence they are also magically wearable as separates.. I could definitely see myself slipping on the tailored long line blazer with tropical bug-like prints on top of a plain black outfit and popping out to a party, equally the tailored tropical print trousers called out to me as an amazing summer piece - paired with white birks & a laid back tee. Every piece Devlin makes reflects her vividly-multicoloured personal style, watch this space.. I think this girl is going places.

Apologies for the bad picture quality, the lighting made taking photographs quite tricky & I was only armed with an iphone!

Hope you like this post, I know it's something slightly different for me but I thoroughly enjoyed attending a fashion event as a 'fashion blogger' and am hoping to be writing similar posts in the near future!

We're All Going To The Zoo

Hey guys,

this past Saturday I was lucky enough to spend the day at London Zoo with some of (there are a fair few of us in all!) my wonderful family, and 'rain or shine' we were determined to have fun :). I thought I would share some pics of my day & the outfit I wore! I always have loved the zoo! One of my clearest memories is driving past London Zoo in our old campervan and my dad pointing out the tops of the Giraffes' heads popping out above the fence!
DRESS & BOOTS - PRIMARK, SHIRT - H&M, SUNGLASSES - ANTHRO, COAT - VINTAGE

Well that's all for now folks! Hope you liked all my silly animal pics and my #ootd & of course I hope you enjoyed this post!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Hey Guys,
This is just a quick post I put together in honor of the Mean Girls 10th anniversary today! I thought it might be cute to select all my favourite pieces from the lovely pink things that are available on the highstreet at the moment.. as we all know I have a weakness for pink...and it is a Wednesday...

Sparkly, tacky & matching.. I'm pretty sure this little pink set has already sold out on the Topshop website! But perhaps we can recreate it with other matching pink items in our wardobe?

A beautiful blush pink smock from the lovely people at The White Pepper.. if you don't know this website & you are a pastel lover like me you are missing out big time...I mean I can't afford to buy any of the stuff but it's nice to dream...

River Island makes the pink dress casual by reinventing it in acid wash jersey.. we likey. I am also a fan of these 90's style thin halter straps that are appearing at the moment, but I am unsure how I would tackle them without the use of a better strapless bra tbh..yep..I talked about bras...ON THE INTERNET.

A delicous silky shirt dress from topshop.. I like the idea of wearing this with silver heels and a silver clutch and partying  till the wee hours..or just wearing it to a picnic, which is much more likely in my life ;)

Last of all.. the shoes! The first pair are some espadrilles from Topshop - i really like these, i think they would look supercute (now one word) with plain jeans and a tee in the summertime as a nice POPof colour. Secondly.. the jellies are back, this time is pastel pink..'ooooooh' my 5 year old self stares at them in wonder & amazement! Last of all this adorable pair of kitten heels from New Look which I think would top off my vintage floral co-ord perfectly..hmm...

Well, that's all for now folks! Sorry if you don't like pink!!!
