How To - TRENDS S/S 2013

Hey Guys,

Todays post is a 'How To', a series I'm going to be starting about the trends of the season and how to style outfits so that they look cool and on trend but still feel individual and easy to wear!

This post is all about S/S 2013!

STRIPES

Linear patterns took over the catwalk this season (See Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and Oscar de la Renta). A stand out contender for best pattern was the trusty old STRIPE. When it comes to patterned fabric my motto is GO BOLD or GO HOME, and so I have taken the stripe on with full vigour. Hitting another trend (MONOCHROME MADNESS) I stuck with black and white stripes.

When styling a striped outfit I like to mix vertical and horizontal to create a sort of optical illusion and really make a statement. When your patterns are so bold its best to go for simple shapes to create a clean silhouette and only add a pop of colour on the lips, maybe try a neon pink lipstick if you're wearing this out at night? Keep accessories simple and black and leave your stripes to do all the talking!

CANDY CRUSH

Pastel candy colours are back in full swing this Spring-Summer and I like to style mine with a bit of kitsch girlyness, like a tongue in cheek park avenue princess! Take Spearmint greens, frosty blues and pretty blush pinks and make a 'Marina and the Diamonds' style statement of your pastels. Collars and bows make the look sugar sweet and plastic style finishes bring up images of barbie! Another top trend seen everywhere on the catwalk were these embellished sunglasses, be it pearls or plastic flowers these are sure to top off your outfit with pastel perfect pizazz!

90's Grunge

Philip Lim's s/s 2013 collection spurred on a 90's grunge comeback which I absolutely love! For this look, the best advice is just to throw it together from what you have! Lacy and silk pyjama style tops or floral prints make a stark contrast against your boyfriends ripped jeans, tie a plaid shirt round your hips and you're ready to go! Clashing prints is encouraged and lazy knit jumpers are a must! All in all just have fun with it and make sure to mess up your hair a bit - this look is all about being easy going and careless!

♡ Mini makeup haul & Review ♡

Hey guys,
I popped into my local drugstore the other day and picked up a few bits of make up I'd been meaning to try for a while, the Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquers and Maybelline The Rocket mascara. Here's some pics and reviews of what I think!

First up - Maybelline The Rocket Mascara -
I've heard loads of beauty bloggers and YouTubers raving about this and have been meaning to give it a go, it just so happened to be £5.99 instead of £7.99 in Superdrug so I thought now was my chance! On first trying the mascara it seemed pretty average to be honest,
my top lashes were longer and fuller but I've seen better in other mascaras.. it wasn't till I put some on my lower lashes that I really realised how nice this mascara is! Where lots of mascaras are too heavy and clumpy for the smaller lower lashes, the rocket is a light, lengthening mascara which left my lower lashes looking doll like and really rather lovely! I wouldn't run out and buy this mascara as my everyday mascara instantly but I think it is really nice for those days when I don't feel like wearing any heavy eye make up or eyeliner.  I'd give it a 7/10

Next up is Rimmel Apocalips in 'Celestial'
Now this lip laquer has blown up on the blogging world, so much so that I was worried my expectations would be way way way too high. I chose two colours and this is the first, 'Celestial' a pinky, mauve colour which most would call 'my lips but better'.. the colour is really really lovely  and the colour pay off is very strong. I truly was unbelievably impressed! This isn't quite a lip gloss and not a lipstick either, its somewhere in between, it colours your lips with a thick strong colour and leaves them with a lovely shine, without feeling sticky. 'Celestial' is a gorgeous day time colour! 9/10 from me!!

Next again is Rimmel Apocalips 'Big bang'
Once again I was worried about this one, I am very picky about my red lipsticks. But I couldn't love this colour more! The pay off is unbeliveble, it gives you an amazing bright pillar box red, and a really nice shine. A couple of things I would say bout this lacquer is that you have to be really good at applying the colour, as it is such a strong shade and any slight slip or mistake could end up looking really silly! And the staying power isn't fantastic, you need to reapply after a couple of hours and it disappears as soon as you eat/drink. Other then that I really love this colour and it will definitely become a staple for me!  9/10 again :)

Overall I am very happy with my purchases and will defo be wanting to try some other Apocalips colours :)

hope you're all having a lovely 2013 so far!

Winter ootd

Hey guys,

another quick ootd for you. It's finally getting slightly warmer here in London - meaning the snow's gone! I opted for the classic skater dress and knee highs, with a jaguar print twist!

To keep warm I layered a couple of thick cardis and a scarf. One tip I like to do is pop a pair of thin black tights over your socks, this keeps you toasty and holds your socks up! :)

Hope you like the outfit

 Autumn Leaves
This is my 'autumnal lookbook'! :)

Just a few OOTD's to show you how I style autumnal colours and styles! I love autumn! Halloween! Colourful leaves! Bonfires! Woolly Scarves! YAY!

This outfit shows me sporting the 'berry' trend for the season, I wore this berry coloured jumper/top  I bought in H&M last year.. I love the draping on the back, I think it gives this basic outfit a bit of a fashionable edge! I really like the colours in this outfit, this is exactly the colour palette I think of when I think of autumn clothes!

In this Outfit:
berry draped top - H&M
Black disco pants - American Apparel
Green Woolly cardigan - local boutique
brown belt & shoes - Topshop

Mulberry lipstick - Russian red by MAC and Mulberry by SLEEK

PLEASE also take a look at my latest lookbook outfit! :

In this outfit:
Red beret - Primark
Black top - Topshop
Floral skirt -Spitalfields Market
Black long socks - Topshop
Red coat - New Look

Last of all, this is a casual autumnal look with a more 'rocker' 'biker' vibe, its a great way to reuse your summer clothes too, just put a pair of black tights with your denim shorts and chuck a leather jacket over your jersey vest! I wore this look to walk around East London on a Sunday and it was perfect for the 'sunny but a bit chilly' weather that London is having at the moment.. I tend to wear more girlie/cutsy outfits in Autumn/Winter but this is a nice change from that!

In This Outfit:
White Jersey Tank - H&M
Black leather jacket- Miss Selfridge
Denim cut off shorts - Beyond Retro
Sunnies - Topshop
necklaces - a gift and a charity shop

hope you're all well and excited for halloween/autumn in general!
